Through the Silence
The forest was silent, the snow muting all sounds.
No birdsong, no rustling branches, just the long shadows of trees cast across a path barely visible beneath the frost. The air was cold and dry, each breath a faint cloud dissolving into stillness.
You walk because that’s all you can do. Not out of purpose, but momentum. The trees lean inward as if listening, their gnarled limbs forming a tunnel toward a distant glow. Light filters faintly through the boughs, hinting at something ahead. Hope, maybe, or just another stretch of winter’s hush.
There’s a peace in it, somewhere beneath the unease. The kind of peace you only find when there’s no turning back.
